Have a Bird Friendly Halloween!
Looking for something to do with those pumpkins and decorative gourds once Halloween is over? Fill them with sunflower seeds, or peanuts, for the birds to enjoy! Just place the hollowed out pumpkin in a hanging planter, fill with bird food, and hang it from a pole or tree branch.
If you don’t have an old planter handy, simply pierce holes in the sides of your jack-o-lantern and attach a cord through the holes for hanging. If you want to get fancy and add perches on to your pumpkin, check out this Audubon DIY video.
Of course, it’s also a fun way to distract the squirrels away from your bird feeders!
Have a Happy Halloween!
