Announcing Feather Fest and the Daily Feather Fact!
The countdown to Bird Protection Quebec’s Feather Fest-Festival des Plumes is on! Join BPQ at Parc des Rapides in Lasalle on Saturday, September 23rd from 10 AM – to 3 PM for a fun day of activities and bird walks designed for all ages and birding abilities. Take in the live birds of prey exhibit or a break with some shade grown, Bird Friendly® coffee at our café!
Download of the Event Flyer for details. Visit the website of our hosts Heritage Laurentien to learn more about the park.
It’s all part of our special 100th Anniversary programming, and so to count down the days to a Feather Fest, what but a daily feather fact will do?
Daily Feather Fact #1 – Down for the Count
The Tundra Swan holds the record for the bird with the most feathers; someone had the patience to count the over 25,2oo feathers of the bird’s dense winter plumage. Hopefully, for the sake of the lucky feather counter, the project wasn’t carried out on a hot and sticky day!
